Exam Results

The school will prepare students for Key Stages 3 – 4 and for A and AS Level examinations.

1.         Entries and Fees

Normally pupils will sit G.C.S.E. (Key Stage 4) at the end of five years.  The level of entry is at the discretion of the subject teacher.  These fees will be met out of school budget.  Pupils will be allowed one re-sit in essential subjects (English language, Maths), provided their A Level subject commitments allow their attendance at three classes weekly of the Year 12 year group in the subject concerned.  Any subsequent GCSE re-sits are the student’s own responsibility and cannot be accommodated in the school.

2.         GCSE Re-sit Procedure

Students in Year 13 who wish to repeat one of the subjects cited above must have the entry form signed by the relevant subject teacher and must accept his/her decision as to whether it should be attempted in the winter or summer sitting.  The teacher concerned should indicate whether or not course work and other marks are to be carried forward, and is unlikely to give permission for the re-sit if the student cannot attend classes as laid down in (1) above.

3.         Withdrawal of Entries

This may only happen in exceptional circumstances at the discretion of the Examination Officer.

The candidate is liable for withdrawal fee in advance, payable to the Examining Board.

4.         Amendment

The candidate is liable for the amendment fee in advance.

5          Other Examinations

These are sat at the discretion of the school, where judged useful and valuable.  In the case of optional music or other examinations, candidates are liable for all fees.

N.B.

Other curricular and in house policies are available for scrutiny on application to the school office.
